Adele Is Britain’s Richest Ever Female Musician (But Ireland’s Enya Still Has More Money)

Twist!

The Sunday Times has published their annual Rich List, ranking musicians from the UK and Ireland based on their collective fortunes, BBC reports.

For the fifth consecutive year, Adele is number one among those under the age of 30, with a fortune of £85m ($AUD123m).

She is now also Britain’s richest ever female musician, assisted by her recent hit record, 25.

And yet, the endearingly-cockney 27-year-old is not the highest ranked woman on the list. That honour belongs to Ireland’s Enya, who has amassed a fortune of £91m ($AUD132m).

Yes, the Enya you're thinking of.

You do you, Enya.

Overall, Adele sits at #30 on the male-oriented list. Kylie Minogue is the only other female solo artist to make the chart.

In the top spot sits Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell, with their fortune of £760m ($AUD1.1 billion). Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber follows with £715m ($AUD1.04 billion).

There’s a steep drop after those two, with U2 on £500m ($AUD728 million) in third place. Remember, that has to be divided four ways. It’s barely worth the trouble.

Sir Elton John and Sir Mick Jagger round out the top five with £280m ($AUD407 million) and £235m ($AUD342 million), respectively.

Congrats, millionaires!
