Adele's "25" Demolished NSYNC's Single Week Sales Record; Biggest Debut In 25 Years

Turning tables. Moving units.

Adele’s decision to not stream 25 has paid off big time. More than 3.38 million copies of her new album were sold in the United States alone this past week.

According to Billboard, that’s the largest single week for an album since the advent of ‘point of sales’ monitoring in 1991.

It crushed the previous record held by *NSYNC's No Strings Attached, and then some. (JT and the boys had sold 2.4 million back in 2000.)

In Australia, 25 took the top spot on the ARIA chart with 126,063 sales. It also nudged her previous records 19 and 21 back into the Top 20.

For context, Taylor Swift’s 1989 – the previous biggest record of the past few years – only notched 64,588 copies in its first 10 days of sale.

Adele celebrated adorably by announcing her European tour as Harry Potter.
