Adam Goodes Won't Do A Lap Of Honour At The Grand Final

You won't be able to wish the AFL's most talked about player "Goodes" bye and "Goodes" luck at the Grand Final.

Exiting Swans star Adam Goodes has declined an invitation to participate in the AFL Grand Final parade.

Former footballer Tim Watson told SEN radio that the controversial booing directed at Goodes throughout the year would have likely been a factor.

Goodes is instead taking a two-month holiday and will say goodbye to Sydney supporters at the start of the next AFL season.

"You hope the bitterness towards him dissipates with time,” Watson added.

You certainly would, considering the accomplishments and admiration Goodes has racked up on and off the field; it certainly shouldn't be marred by distasteful, racially-charged booing by a subset of the footy-loving audience.

Goodes’ 374-game career came to an end with a loss to the Kangaroos during last week’s elimination final.

The 35-year-old managed two Brownlow victories in his time with the Swans, as well as a place on two premiership teams.

In 2014, he was named Australian of the Year.
