A Six-Year-Old's Art Is Already on Display at NYC's The Met, So Get Cracking on Your Macaroni Paintings

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (more commonly known at 'The Met') displays an exhibition for local school children every year.

This year was no different with the P.S. Art Exhibition opening last week.

Sandra Jackson-Dumont, education chairperson of the Frederick P. and Sandra P. Rose Foundation, told The Huffington Post that seeing the children realise that their work was being publicly exhibited for the first time was a highlight.

"One of the most powerful parts of the show is the moment when the young people realise their ever first show is happening at The Met," Jackson-Dumont told The Huffington Post.

There are 103 selected artworks in the exhibition, including six-year-old student Aysha Fatima's Picasso-esque "Lady Liberty".

Let's just take a second to acknowledge that she's in Year One and, again, is only six years old.

"Even at that age, we encourage them not to copy. We want them, as artists, to use their own creative impulses and let that guide the process," Jackson-Dumont said.

BTW, this is about the extent of my creative impulse.
