A Perth Restaurant Is Giving Their Diners Water Guns to Blast Seagulls Away

Seagulls are getting blasted away from the dinner table in Perth.

Seagulls. The bane of every fish-and-chips lunch plan. Of every snack at the beach. And, apparently, even of legitimate dinners by the harbourside.

ABC is reporting that the owners at 3 Sheets pizzeria in Perth were fed up with the eagle-eyed pests stealing their customers' dinners and hurting their business.

So, they decided to fight back (in a humane way) against the gull invasion by loading up water guns and leaving them for diners to use on seagulls at their discretion.

The owner of 3 Sheets, Toby Evans, told the ABC that the response was overwhelmingly positive.

"They love it, especially the blokes, they will sit down with a meal and a beer and they get into the spirit of it," Evans said.

"They go well—we can scare them off a bit and have some fun and the kids love it. It's also training the seagulls to tell them 'you are not welcome here guys, go and get your own food, go to the ocean where you belong'."

Evans also said that he doesn't believe it's cruel to the 'gulls as they're used to being splashed by waves in their natural habitat.
