10 Fun TikToks From the 2020 Australian Olympic Team

Get the behind-the-scenes action.

So, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are finally here, and while it took us a little longer than expected, every Aussie is anxiously waiting to watch the Opening Ceremony tonight and cheer on our amazing team.

While the start of the games is undoubtedly one of the most exciting points of the event, a lot of keen fans have been watching the behind-the-scenes action of the Aussie team before they even made it to Tokyo on social media.

Tbh, the content is ace, and it’s been popping off on TikTok, so here’s our take on the best TikToks from the Aussie Olympic team for 2020.

1. Flying to Tokyo.

Starting out strong, the official @ausolympicteam TikTok account shared a cute montage video of the 200+ team members making their way onto the Qantas flight off to Tokyo.

How exciting is this!?

2. Making dreams come true.

The lovely @tillykearns—a member of the women’s water polo team—gave us immaculate vibes by reminding herself (and all of us) that she’s officially achieved her dream.

Huge congrats Tilly!

3. Arriving at the Olympic village.

Olympic diver @samfrickerr has been bringing us with him on the whole trip to Toyko. Here he’s shared a mini vlog of getting out of the airport and arriving at the Australian Olympic team headquarters.

4. Sneak peak of the dining hall.

Tennis competitor @saria_gavtennis took her fans through a walk of the Tokyo dining hall. Plus, according to her the food on offer is a whole bunch better than the options at the Rio Olympics.

@daria_gavtennis

Which cuisine would you go for? #olympics #teamaustralia #olympicspirit #tokyoolympics

♬ Drive Forever - Tendency Challenge

Looks tasty and nutritious, so not bad at all.

5. COVID-19 protocols.

@tillykearns also gave us her own sneak peak of the dining hall, only on her trip fans got to learn all about the special COVID-19 protocols that they have in place to keep all competitors and staff safe.

Super important right now and so nice to see!

6. A vibey uniform reveal.

@samfrickerr also joined @ausolympicteam for a fun reveal of the official Australian Olympic team uniform. It’s honestly classy and casual all at the same time.

7. Exposing the beds.

If you’ve been reading the news at all lately, you might have heard some buzz about the strange cardboard beds that the Olympic athletes were being given for these games.

Unfortunately, they got a sort of bad rep for an uh… awkward rumour but in reality they’re just meant to be a more environmentally friendly option and they’re super sturdy. @tillykearns spilled the beans.

@tillykearns

Reply to @lifeofriley2 Beds in the Olympic village, YES they are made from cardboard 😋

9. Dancing w/ the Hockeyroos.

The official Hockeyroos’ TikTok account @roos_2021 has also been popping off ‘cos the ladies have been joining in on TikTok dances and trends.

They definitely don’t miss with this chill rendition to a BeeGees and 50 cent remix.

9. Trends and tennis.

@daria_gavtennis also showed us that she can jump onto trends by sharing a vid to the ‘twearkalator’ song and showing off some impressive tennis skills.

@daria_gavtennis

Except when you’re injured you are stuck with nothing…. #tennis #olympicspirit #tennisplayer

♬ Pretty young twearkalator - ✨yUh✨

10. Maybe next time.

Last, but certainly not least, is Olympic diver @brittanyobrienn.

Technically, Brittany isn’t a part of the 2020 Olympic team as she pulled out this year, but she has been sharing her support (and a little bit of FOMO) on TikTok so we can cheer on with her.

While we won’t get to see Brittany’s talents this year, hopefully we can see her skills in Paris 2024.

@brittanyobrienn

I’M KIDDING HAHAH but not really #olympicspirit #tokyoolympics

And that’s a wrap. Now you should probs get off TikTok and prep some snacks for the Opening Ceremony tonight, it’s sure to be a smash.

Wishing all the luck and fun to the Aussie Olympic team!
