Your Beloved BTS Just Broke Taylor Swift’s 24Hr YouTube Record With "Idol"

Look what you helped them do.

Korean boy band BTS (aka Bangtan Boys) has just cemented their "Idol" status by breaking a YouTube record previously held by Taylor Swift (who, being just one person, never really stood a chance).

The latest music video from the seven-person sensation was watched 45 million times in its first 24 hours, thanks to an assist from the BTS Army. They even managed to do it without the presence of Nicki Minaj, who guests on the remix (and who hasn’t had much chart success by herself lately).

As of this writing, the video has since been viewed more than 88 million times.

Taylor previously held the record for "Look What You Made Me Do", which was viewed 43.2 million times in its first day. However, for all its visual flourishes, it did not have BTS dancing in an underwater cage while a CGI shark snapped at them from behind.

Check out the world-beating, Taylor-topping video for "Idol" below.
