You Can Now Upload GIFs To Facebook, But There's A Catch

Facebook has finally opened their doors to GIFs, so prepare for your feed to look a lot like Homer Simpson’s first webpage.

Though there had been covert ways of squeezing your animated excerpts from 30 Rock onto Facebook previously, Facebook’s new GIF-friendly functionality renders them all useless. Stand down, Giphy. You served us well.

However, as of this moment, you can’t upload GIFs through their “add photos/videos” call-to-action.
Instead, you need to add the GIF's url as a link to your status.
It’s not known why, after years of denying its users, Facebook are suddenly all about GIFs. Maybe they just stopped being chicken.

According to The Huffington Post, the functionality is still being rolled out, so don’t panic if you can’t post GIFs just yet.
Still, this is cause for celebration.
