After a killer (literally) season, set in the coastal expanses of Sicily and decorated with the famed faces of Aubrey Plaza, ​​Theo James, Michael Imperioli and Jennifer Coolidge (shall we go on?), fans are itching to know what’s in store for Mike White’s sleeper hit show.

The good news was announced just three episodes into the latest season, when HBO confirmed “The White Lotus will return for a third instalment following a new group of guests at another White Lotus property.”

When will Season 3 of The White Lotus be released?

We have no confirmation as yet, but just like fans of the series puzzled together the shocking Season 2 finale twist, we can go off a few clues.

Season 1 premiered in July 2021 and Season 2 arrived in October 2022.

We can probably expect similar spacing, meaning we’d be getting a January or February 2024 release for Season 3.

Of course, this is dependent on the speed of production and head honcho decisions over at HBO.

What will Season 3 of The White Lotus be about?

Mike White’s taken us on a poetic journey through the themes of money, abuse of power, sexual relationships, infidelity, and humans just being…terrible.

We have no doubt the show creator will conjure up more deliciously devious plotlines for Season 3, but what could they be, exactly?

Mike’s actually given us some hints.

In an interview with The LA Times, he said the third season “would be maybe a kind of satirical and funny look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality—it feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”

So…death. Does this mean we can expect another murder mystery?

Where will Season 3 of The White Lotus be set?

Mike’s given us even more to live for by revealing his ideas for the next White Lotus property location.

“We are going to scout in Asia and look at countries there,” he said.

Are we gonna get a Bali White Lotus? Or a Bora Bora moment? Time will tell.

Who will be in Season 3 of The White Lotus?

The biggest question on everyone’s mind is whether our lordess and saviour, Jennifer Coolidge, has been ousted forever from the series.

Nothing’s impossible, and Mike White has indicated we may not have seen the last of her storyline. There are some aspects which weren’t fully wrapped up in the Season 2 finale—such as Greg’s inheritance, his supposed affair, and whether Portia will act on what she witnessed.

We have some promising insight as to whether or not previous cast members will make an appearance in future series. Connie Britton, who played Nicole in Season 1 (aka the high-powered corporate mum), has said she was actually supposed to return for the second season.

“(Mike White) wanted me to be in the second season, and there was an idea that I loved for the character,” she told Deadline. “Our intention is to do it in the third season. A piece of casting didn’t work in the second season and we’re hoping to [do] that in the third season. I would love to see a spin-off on every character in that show.”
