What To Wear To A Job Interview

Wahey! You've gotten an interview!
Cue dancing around and freaking out over the possible beginning of your work life.
But then it hits you: What am I going to wear?
Slightly superficial? Possibly. However, studies show that what you wear to an interview can affect what an interviewer thinks of you. It can communicate a lot about who you are and how you see yourself. What you wear to an interview plays a big part in the impression an interviewer can develop, so here are a few handy tips to help quell those fashion worries.

1. Ask your interviewer if there's a dress code.
It never hurts to ask, and this could easily plant that first seed of your brilliant initiative in your future employer's mind. Better safe than sorry!

2. Make sure your clothes fit.
Ill-fitting clothes are a big no-no. You don't want to be uncomfortable during the interview, nor do you want to spend most of your time pulling down your sleeves or dying over the tightness of your pants. Clothes that fit not only mean you are comfortable but that you’re also an upstanding dresser too.

3. There is such a thing as too comfortable.
Making sure you're comfortable in what you're wearing doesn't mean rocking up in your Netflix-ready trackies and high school jumper. No flip flops, no onesies and possibly no majorly branded clothes either.

4. Dress for the place you're being interviewed for.
Going for something in an office? Dress like it. Going for something in retail? Dress like it. Going for something in hospitality? Dress like it. Get where I'm going here? It's like that saying, "Dress for the job you want." Well I say, "Dress for the job you're going for." Show your future employer that you'd fit into their workplace.

5. Be confident!
I know, I hate those two words together too. Everybody says them. But they're true! Confidence is the best thing you can wear to a job interview. So whack on your best smile and blow your interviewer away.
