That’s So Fetch! What You Need to Know Before Seeing "Mean Girls"

On Wednesdays we wear pink 💅
It’s the movie your millennial older sibling probably couldn’t stop quoting growing up. But twenty years later, Mean Girls is back and just as iconic.
The new film from Tina Fey is a remake of a remake – the 2024 film is based on the 2017 Broadway musical, which was adapted from the original 2004 movie.
And although the general storyline and the characters have stayed the same, there are still some changes from the OG movie. Whether you’re semi-curious about the new film or you’re DYING to go see it, we’ve got all the deets about the new Plastics 👇
It's not just any movie, it's a musical.
Although the OG didn’t have any musical numbers, the reboot has heaps for audiences to enjoy. If you’re a Broadway/musical theatre kid this movie is definitely for you.
The film opens with a duet from Janis played by Auli’I Cravalho) and Damian (played by Jacquel Spivey) who give us a taste of the events to come. And later Regina (played by Reneé Rapp) delivers her iconic revenge solo with the track World Burn.
Aussie actress Angourie Rice stars.
You may know her from Marvel’s Spider-Man movies but now Aussie actress Angourie Rice is the movie’s new Cady Heron.
When we caught up with her 2021, she reflected on what it was like choosing her career path and the advice she would give to current students.
“I also grew up dancing and singing, and I’ve always loved music, and I also always loved reading and writing. Oh my god, I would write so many stories when I was a kid,” she said.
“I highly encourage everyone to just follow whatever they want, and it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t match up with other things, or if it’s different, or if people discourage you.”
Some OG stars return.

While it would’ve been soo good to see Rachel McAdams, the OG Regina George come back to play the new Regina’s mum, that doesn’t happen.
However, Tina Fey reprises her character as Ms Norbury and Tim Meadows also returns to play principal, Mr Duvall.
Plus an iconic actress/actor from the original film makes a surprise appearance 👀 But no spoilers here!
Some stars from the Broadway reboot return.
Moving from Broadway to the big screen, Reneé Rapp reprises her role as Regina and boy does she do a good job.
And Ashley Park who played Gretchen Wieners on Broadway also joined the film but as the French teacher at North Shore High School.
