What Rules Did PM ScoMo Break With His Fatman Scoop-Inspired #AusPol Meme?

ScoMo's social media team is truly getting served.

Yesterday, a strange thing happened. The Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, posted a meme on his social media channels. That meme was a short video of government members raising their hands with Fatman Scoop's 1999 hit "Be Faithful" in the background.

It was a weird moment in #auspol.

Though not in the clip, the rest of the song features lyrics that include:

To all my n***** that they hit it from the back
Who want to have sex with no strings attached

and, of course:

Who f*****' tonight? Who f*****' tonight?
Who f*****' tonight? Oh! Oh! Who f*****' tonight?
Who f*****' tonight? Who f*****' tonight? Oh! Oh!

ScoMo has since deleted the tweet and apologised for using a song that contains some questionable, well, questions.

But what matters at the end of the day are the rules and PM ScoMo (and his media team) seem to have forgotten that.

As a reminder, here are some of the rules he's broken.

Rule #1: Don't pretend to be a '90s/'00s kid if you're not one.

Everyone can sniff out a fake '90s or early '00s kid. 

So, when a Fatman Scoop classic appeared in a 50-year-old politician's social media page, we knew something was up. 

Rule #2: You're legitimately not allowed to edit Parliamentary videos.

Yep, an official Parliamentary rule was broken by posting this "meme".

As Mike Carlton points out on Twitter, "broadcast material may not be digitally manipulated."

Rule #3: Memes have to actually make sense before they're posted.

Back to the actual "meme" in question. Does it even make sense, even by the loose standards of Twitter memes?

The 11-second video featured politicians raising their hands, seemingly in response to Fatman Scoop's calls to do so, if (and only if) they've got some cash bills. These politicians, who are paid numerous "bills" as part of their high salaries, obviously do. And seeing how the video wasn't really related to any policy or announcement, we have to declare that it is the literal definition of a s**tpost.

It looks like you're going to find something else to devour, because #auspol is officially cooked.
