We Bring You the World's Ugliest Dog: Zsa Zsa the 9YO Bulldog

Meet this year's ugliest pooch.
The world can be a strange place, which is why it's not really surprising there's a World's Ugliest Dog competition, which has been held each year for the past 30.
Among the contestants were a plentitude of dogs with droopy tongues, no fur and just generally hideous faces that only a parent could love.
But there had to be a winner and this year the title was awarded to Zsa Zsa, a nine-year-old English Bulldog.

Zsa Zsa's owner was rewarded $USD1,500 for the 'achievement'.
But to remind you that bulldogs are not always ugly little freaks, here are some adorable bullpuppers complete with saggy fur and clumsy runs.

While it's a sort of a fun thing to have an ugly dog competition, it's also important to point out that a lot of these have "ugly" features because of cruel breeding practices.
The British Bulldog, for example, has a range of serious health problems due to inbreeding. Breeders prefer to inbreed the dogs to maintain their pedigree but this leads to a range of problems such as shorter life expectancy (it's a mere six years), serious breathing problems and 80 per cent of all bulldog puppies being birthed by caesarian.
Just keep that in mind the next time you think about purchasing a pup with physical quirks like bulldogs or sausage dogs, find out a bit more about the breeder and the pup's parents. For instance, vets recommend getting bulldogs with longer snouts or those who have even been crossed with other breeds.
