Watch DJ Khaled’s Incredibly Awkward Performance at the Overwatch League Finals

To be fair, they didn’t know what a DJ Khaled was either.

I will be totally honest with you, dear reader, and tell you that I’m not 100 per cent sure what Overwatch is. I mean, I know it’s a video game, and that it’s very popular, but that’s about it.

However, I was not invited to perform at Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch League Finals. I also have access to Google, and in the infinitesimal time it took to write these two sentences, I have searched "what is Overwatch" and received a chunk of information that explains the game to me in simple terms.

Therefore, I will assume DJ Khaled—who was invited to perform at Blizzard’s Overwatch League Finals—does not have internet access right now, because he sure as hell didn’t seem to know what Overwatch is either, instead treating the crowd to awkward two-steps and solo recitations of other artists’ hit songs.

The self-mythologising ad-lib god rocked up to Brooklyn’s Barclay Centre, to perform to the extreme bemusement of thousands who wanted to see Overwatch teams Philly Fusion and London Spitfire battle.

And, in a series of videos posted to Twitter and Twitch, it appears the bemusement was mutual.

Anyway, here's the whole thing.

Skip to the ten-minute mark to watch DJ Khaled tell people to "jump" at the wrong part of "Jump Around".

And then skip to the 11-minute mark for him to ask the largely white, male crowd to sing along with Cardi B’s "Bodak Yellow", ahem, "word for word". He also turns off the music, which does not help.

We are cringing.
