Watch Darren Hayes Ask Americans If They Know Who He Is

Remember Darren Hayes? These people don’t!

Former Savage Garden leading man Darren Hayes now lives in America and conducts the podcast He Said He Said, on which he is dared by co-host Tim Stanton to embarrass himself on a regular basis.

His most recent shaming involved asking passers-by in Santa Monica to identify the Australian pop star.

Truly, madly, deeply they don’t.

In their defence, Savage Garden split fourteen years ago.

But then, their first album sold seven million copies in the United States alone (and, as Darren himself mentions in the increasingly cringe-worthy clip, Savage Garden sold a total of 30 million copies worldwide). Surely that’s worth a hint of recognition, if not total name recall?

Anyway, watch it all unfold here.

And now remember Savage Garden in better times.
