Wanna Work in Antarctica? Your Dream Job is Now Hiring…

Living among penguins in an icy hut? Sounds like a Club Penguin dream come true.
Grab your thermals and uggs—you could be heading on the Bear Grylls-esque adventure of your lifetime.

The UK Antarctic Heritage Trust is hiring a base leader, shop manager and general assistant at Port Lockroy in Antarctica, a historic base on the tiny Goudier Island.

You could be managing a gift shop and post office, upkeeping buildings, and observing wildlife during your five month tenure from November to March on the icy island, which receives 18,000 visitors a season.
Just apply for a British Visa and you could be amid glaciers, Northern Lights, and stunning views most people never get to see!

But be warned, the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust says Antarctica is a “physically and mentally challenging workplace”.
Temperatures in summer months vary between -5 to 10 degrees Celsius and the accommodation doesn’t have heating (we weren’t joking about the thermals).

There’s also no running water on the island, so you’ll need to collect it from visiting ships, and nab a shower from ‘em every few days.
In terms of meals—you’ll only have a cooker and a heater, and you’ll mainly be eating dried and tinned items from the UK.

Add in no flushing toilets and no internet access or mobile phone reception, and you’ve got yourself an episode of Survivor.

If this appeals to you more than the cliched post-school European Summer trip and you think you’ve got what it takes, applications close 25 April!
