Victoria May Become The First State To Legalise Euthanasia

Growing support for voluntary euthanasia in Victoria may lead to a parliamentary vote on whether or not it should be legalised.
The Guardian reports Victorian premier Daniel Andrews has said the government would provide “a way forward”.
According to Fairfax media, more than half of Mr Andrews’ cabinet has also declared support for euthanasia. They are expecting an official response from the government this week.
“I think more and more Victorians are coming to the conclusion that we are not giving a dignified end,” said Andrews. “We are not giving the support, the love and care that every Victorian should be entitled to in their final moments.”
Excellent! Victoria to have conscience vote on Euthanasia next year! At last! Fingers crossed! 😊

If Victoria does change its laws, it will become the first state in the country to adopt voluntary euthanasia. Although, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has made it clear that he does not agree with legalising it.
“If there was a vote on it again tomorrow, I would not vote for it,” Turnbull told radio 3AW.
While the general consensus is that most people want euthanasia legalised in Australia, it’s a tricky area to navigate for policy-makers.
Questions of access, vulnerability and the value of human life will be key concerns moving forward.
