Vance Joy Breaks ARIA Chart Record With "Riptide"

Vance Joy's unkillable earworm "Riptide" has just broken an Australian music record.

The pop juggernaut has logged 107 consecutive weeks in the ARIA Top 100, becoming the longest-charting song in ARIA history (so, since 1988).

The Melbourne singer-songwriter has trumped previous record holder, Lady Gaga's "Poker Face," which can now only boast 106 consecutive weeks in the Australian charts.

Third place now belongs to Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," with a positively brief 105-week charting streak.

Sales of "Riptide" are certain to only increase as Vance Joy begins touring with Taylor Swift across America.

Already the tune has moved more than 3.5 million copies worldwide. Two million of those were in the States.

If, for God knows what reason, you've managed to avoid "Riptide" thus far and have no idea how it goes, check it below.

If you can't bear the thought of listening to it one more time, maybe you'd prefer to see Vance Joy covering Taylor Swift's "I Know Places" instead.

Well, good news, because that's online too. Tay-Tay has even called it her favourite cover of a 1989 song.

She repaid the favour by covering "Riptide" herself. Synergy!
