“Uncut Gems” Starring Adam Sandler Comes To Australian Netflix on 31 January

He’s tipped for an Oscar nomination.

If you’re a fan of Adam Sandler, you’ve probably been wondering how and when you’ll be able to watch Uncut Gems in Australia.

The film, directed by Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie, follows the life of a charismatic jeweler called Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler) who makes a high stakes bet that could lead him to the windfall of a lifetime. According to the official synopsis, Howard must risk everything to stay afloat and alive, performing a "precarious high-wire act", while balancing "business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides".

With the movie only being scheduled for limited release in the United States on 13 December, Aussies have been eager to know when it will land down under.

Well, it looks like you’ll be able to stream Uncut Gems on Australian Netflix from 31 January 2020.

While Sandler has a deal with Netflix that sees him make yearly comedies such as Murder Mystery, it wasn't expected that Uncut Gems would be made available on the streaming service.

Also starring Idina Menzel (Frozen), Lakeith Stanfield (Sorry to Bother You) and NBA player Kevin Garnett, the flick has been met with critical acclaim, receiving 95 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer.

Critics have also praised Sandler's performance as Howard, especially considering the actor is stepping into a fairly unexpected role. With all the hype, people are keen to see him nominated for an Oscar. He was named Best Actor at the National Board of Review earlier this week, so it is entirely possible.

On the other hand, he did miss out on a Golden Globes nom, similarly to many female film directors and writers.

Sandler has even joked on The Howard Stern Show that if he doesn't win an Oscar for his role, he will make a movie that is "so bad on purpose".

Well, hopefully he's at least nominated.
