Unbelievable Facts the “Elvis” Film Doesn’t Mention

Priscilla was 14 when Elvis met her… and he died from what now?!

Elvis has officially hit cinemas and we were absolutely pulled into the whirlwind of Baz Luhrmann’s cinematic world when we checked it out for ourselves.

From the dramatic accusations against Elvis Presley’s uncouth dancing style, to his manager’s financial abuse, a lot of controversy surrounding the singer’s life was unveiled in the film. But there’s still a lot left to be said.

Perhaps due to the looming presence of Elvis Presley Enterprises, or simply because it didn’t fit in the narrative, certain nuggets of truth were excluded from the movie. And we’ve scoured the internet to serve 'em up for you.

Elvis was on a lethal 12,000-calories-a-day diet.

In the last five years of his life, Elvis weighed around 159kg.

According to the book "Inside Graceland: Elvis’ Maid Remembers", he consistently gorged on sandwiches the length of an entire loaf of bread filled with a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly and several packs of fried bacon, fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches, sugar-glazed salmon, and four scoops of ice cream with six chocolate chip cookies (which was just a casual morning snack).

Elvis was arrested twice, once for assault.

Lots of celebrities seem to have their run-ins with the law—Elvis found himself appearing in court twice for crimes over his lifetime.

The first arrest in 1955 was made for the King of Rock and Roll driving 30 kilometres over the speed limit.

The second time was more serious, when he allegedly started a fist fight with the owner of a gas station. According to Elvis Presley Music, Elvis was being swarmed by fans who were blocking other cars from filling up their tanks. The owner asked Elvis to move repeatedly and said the star then resorted to violent measures.

Priscilla Presley was only 14 years old when Elvis met her, and they began dating.

The new film skims over some icky details when we’re introduced to the enigmatic and beautiful Priscilla Presley, played by Australian actress Olivia DeJonge.

They met in West Germany—correct. Elvis was serving in the US Army and Priscilla’s father was a navy pilot—correct. Elvis was 24 and Priscilla was 14…hang on!

The couple married in 1967, eight years after meeting.

When Elvis died he had four months of poop built-up in his bowel.

The world was in mourning when Elvis died at the age of 42 in 1977.

The film implies his death eventuated from a wild lifestyle, which may be true, depending on how you classify a blocked stool.

A chief investigator for the Tennessee Office of the State Chief Medical Examiner attended the autopsy and explained "Presley's chronic constipation—the result of years of prescription drug abuse and high-fat, high-cholesterol gorging—brought on what's known as Valsalva's maneuver. Put simply, the strain of attempting to defecate compressed the singer's abdominal aorta, shutting down his heart."

Elvis is a distant relative of Abraham Lincoln and Jimmy Carter.

That’s right—not one, but two former US presidents share Elvis’ bloodline (in a really convoluted way).

Many genealogical studies have been conducted which trace indications that Elvis’s father’s side has links to Abraham Lincoln and Jimmy Carter.

RootsWeb states “if you find names like Preslar, Presslar, Presler or Bressler on your family tree, you might be related to a president and a king too.” Fine, I’ll do an ancestry test.

Still reckon you 'Can't Help Falling in Love' with Elvis Presley or is he more of a 'Devil in Disguise'?
