Uber Wants to Introduce Flying Cars in Two Cities By 2020

Uber reckons it will introduce flying cars to the cities of Dallas and Dubai in four years time.
The vehicles will be able to vertically take off and land, which is why they’ll be, shockingly, called Vertical Take Off and Landing aircrafts (VTOLs).
This means the world is one step closer to reaching the futuristic expectations set by many movies (Back To The Future) and shows (Futurama).

While none of the infrastructure, regulations or aircrafts are actually built or secured yet, Uber does have one thing working in their favour. Dallas and Dubai have already signed on to become the first cities to test the new system once the wheels (or wings?) get rolling.
Uber has explained that the VTOLS will operate on electricity and will require ‘vertiports’, which will act as charging stations.
Chief product officer at Uber Technologies, Jeff Holden, said at the Uber Elevate summit that the company was eager to begin with this new technology as soon as possible.
"We just want to usher it in as fast as possible because we all want to live in this world," Holden explained.

Not everyone is convinced about the safety of flying cars though.

Others are sceptical that it is even possible within that time frame.
