Tony Abbott Reviewed “Fifty Shades Of Grey” And “Game Of Thrones” On The Radio This Weekend

If Australia won’t let Tony Abbott be Prime Minister, he’s going to make us listen to his reviews of erotic literature instead.

This is one hell of an ultimatum.

On ABC radio’s Sunday Afternoon program, the former PM was asked about his recent reading (a hobby he’s had more time to indulge this past year, obviously).

During the chat, he revealed that he’d picked up E.L. James’ sauce-fest Fifty Shades of Grey at an “airport bookshop” a couple years back, because it was being “much talked about at the time”.

“[I] thought I should at least become familiar with this talking point but I have to say it was few hours that could easily have been better spent,” he added.

In case you need clarifying: Tony Abbot read Fifty Shades but “didn’t think it was a great book at all.”

No word on whether he plans to see Fifty Shades Darker in cinemas next year.

He also shared his favourite TV shows, which included, ironically, Game of Thrones (he called it “absolutely enthralling”) and Downtown Abbey (“a masterpiece”).

Unfortunately, he is yet to see The Crown, because his daughter Bridget hasn’t yet set up Netflix at his house. No, seriously.
