Tony Abbott’s Daughter Frances Just Released a Video Calling for Marriage Equality

Tony Abbott’s 26-year-old daughter, Frances, has fronted a new video for Australian Marriage Equality’s “Yes” campaign.

It’s the latest blow to former Prime Minister Abbott, who has been a vocal supporter of the “No” campaign, and who claimed he was headbutted by a “Yes” campaigner last week. (Turned out it was just some guy who hated him generally, but not specifically for his postal survey stance.)

In the clip, released today by AME, Frances Abbott says, “You can’t help who you fall in love with.”

She also says how she would love to attend the wedding of “Aunty Chris” (aka Christine Forster) and her partner, Virginia.

“It would be so special and I’m so, so hoping that’s what I get to be a part of,” she adds.

Forster has often criticised her brother Tony’s anti-gay marriage stance.

Frances adds that marriage equality would make Australian society a much better place, with “less fear of discrimination or fear of isolation or loneliness.”

She previously posted her support of marriage equality on Instagram, saying “all love is good”.

After the Instagram post, her dad appeared on Alan Jones’ radio show, saying he was “very proud of her” despite “respectfully” disagreeing with her on the subject.

He is yet to comment on the AME video.
