Tinder Making It Easier To Avoid People With Awful Taste In Music

If you are a self-professed music snob, Tinder has good news for you.

Tinder and Spotify have joined forces to save us from people with bad music tastes, one swipe at a time.

Users are now able to integrate their Spotify listening habits into their Tinder profile. The new feature gives you the freedom to pick and choose which artists to display, so you can be super methodical about it. Or not.

If both users have common favourite artists listed on their profile, then Tinder will let you know that you share similar music tastes; Super helpful given you're often stuck sifting through hoards of potential matches, with little more to go off than a few badly taken selfies and awkward biographies. Thanks for looking out for us, Tinder.

The two services have celebrated their collaboration by gifting us with a snazzy promotional video.

There's also a new feature called the "Anthem", which has been described by Spotify in the most cringe-worthy way possible. Here we go: "It's that one single track that tells your story. That one song you can't get out of your head. Where the lyrics of your life meet the rhythm of your soul."

cringe

All jokes aside, it's a pretty neat function. It means you can put your special, soul-defining song on your profile. Though it does remind me of blogs having auto-play music, which I doubt anyone is a fan of.

Tinder is literally the most popular dating app on the planet, and since February of 2016, their share price has risen nearly 70 per cent. It's no surprise that they are spreading their wings far and wide with potential partnerships. I must say, as someone who went around the school yard pestering people to sign my "Green Day Rulez" campaign, I feel like this partnership was made for me. Okay, I'm probably still a bit of a music snob at heart.

Well, maybe not everyone is convinced.
