Time Travel Game "Life Is Strange" To Become A Live-Action Series

Video game adaptations: They always work out just fine, right?

That’s what Legendary Digital Studios is hoping, having just secured the rights to make a live-action series out of Life is Strange.

Developers Square Enix and DONTNOD made it official on the game’s Tumblr page, saying, “we…. agree that Life Is Strange lends itself perfectly to live-action imaginings.”

“While we can’t wait to see what Legendary will do with the digital series we don’t have any further details to share at this point in time.”

For those unfamiliar with the game – which was released episodically on Steam for PC, the Playstation Network and Xbox Live before being dropped as an entire “feature” – it follows photography student Maxine Caulfield as she attempts to undo a tragedy by rewinding time itself.

But, as anyone who’s seen The Butterfly Effect already knows, playing with time can be tricky business.

Though fans of the game would be right to feel apprehensive about an adaptation, given Hollywood’s track record, a series certainly sounds better suited to its style of storytelling than a straight-up film.

The question is, will we see Life is Strange: The Show produced for a prestige network like HBO or AMC, or will it end up being an online exclusive (or, gasp, doomed to the content limbo that is Crackle, a’la Playstation Network’s Powers)?
