There Might Be a World Shortage of Nutella Very Soon

Stock up on Nutella because a worldwide shortage might be on the way.
Nutella is undoubtedly the world's most famous chocolate-hazelnut spread but it could soon be in short supply.

That's because workers at Nutella's largest factory in Normandy, France are demanding a 4.5 per cent rise in wages. They've halted production until Ferrero France management (the company that makes Nutella) can meet their demands.
Ferrero France has allegedly agreed to a 1.7 per cent wage increase and a one-time bonus for some workers up to the amount of €400 (nearly $AUD650).
But unions and the striking workers argue this amount is not enough to meet the rising cost of living.
The Normandy factory produces 600,000 jars of Nutella each day, which accounts for a staggering quarter of the world's Nutella supply.
Naturally, if negotiations continue for much longer, Nutella's supply will start to dwindle and result in a worldwide shortage. The next negotiation meeting is scheduled for 13 June.
Ferrero Australia assured Student Edge that it shouldn't affect Australian Nutella supplies.
"Nutella, in Australia, is produced and supplied locally, out of Lithgow NSW," a Ferrero Australian spokesperson confirmed.
But still, get it whenever, wherever because there's nothing worse than being Nutella-less for the long winter ahead.
