The Weeknd, His Hair And Rapper Belly Bail On Jimmy Kimmel Because Of Donald Trump Appearance

What an exciting new hip-hop feud!

The Weeknd and rapper Belly have bailed on Jimmy Kimmel after discovering they were set to appear on an episode alongside Donald Trump.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for President, was Kimmel's main guest on Wednesday night's broadcast, during which he revealed that he indeed used to call reporters under aliases, like any sane person would.

The Weeknd and Belly were scheduled to tape a performance for that same ep, but, as AP reports, decided against it after learning of Trump's presence.

Abęl Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) is yet to say anything on the matter, though if he did, we bet he'd do so very, very sensually (with a hint of melancholy). Belly, however, explained his reasoning in a statement.

“I just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don’t agree with," he said.

"I'm here on a campaign of positivity and love and to contribute what I can to music," he added.

"I create songs people go to sleep and wake up to, songs that they fall in love to. For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I'm able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn't right to me. At all."

The duo was set to perform "Might Not" off Belly's upcoming mixtape "Another Day in Paradise". That song title is also presumably what they said to Kimmel's bookers when asked if they might still perform.

Neither Jimmy Kimmel Live! nor Trump's spokesperson have offered any comment on the boycott. Jazz musician Gregory Porter filled in as the musical guest.
