The Rock Reveals His Battle With Coronavirus Via Instagram

“This has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure.”

This morning, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson announced on his Instagram that he and his family had all tested positive for coronavirus.

Openly speaking to his 196 million Instagram followers, Johnson describes how his and his family’s experience with coronavirus has been one of the toughest things he has ever been through, comparing it to previous injuries and financial struggles.

"Testing positive for Covid-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted, or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times," he said.

Johnson went on to say that his experience was so difficult because his number one priority is to protect his family and children.

Revealing that him and his family have now recovered from the virus, Johnson explained how being on the other side of the virus has made his wife Lauren and his daughters Tiana and Jasmine stronger.

While him and his family have fully recovered they have made a conscious effort to remain completely isolated to keep themselves and others safe.

Johnson also spoke on the politicisation of masks stating that masks shouldn't be included in any political argument and wearing one is the responsible thing to do.

"This baffles me that some people out there, including some politicians, will take this idea of wearing masks and make it part of a political agenda, politicising it," he said.

"It has nothing to do with politics. Wear your mask. It is a fact, and it is the right thing to do and it’s responsible thing to do. Not only for yourself and your family, but also for your fellow human beings."

In the caption of the Instagram post the rock encouraged his followers to wear a mask and to be strict about house gatherings.

"Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family. Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings. Stay healthy, my friends," he said.

Johnson’s post has been viewed over 1,600,000 times and is flooded with supportive comments from fans and friends wishing the family well.

This is another reminder that the coronavirus pandemic isn’t over. It’s still a major issue threatening lives all over the globe, regardless of celebrity status or not.

Johnson stated that he has had friends lose loved ones to the virus and that while him and his family are safe and healthy, not everyone is as lucky.

"I have had some of my best friends who have lost their parents, their loved ones, to this virus that is so incredibly relentless and unforgiving," he said.

"We are counting our blessings right now, as we are well aware it isn't always the case that you get on the other end of Covid-19 stronger and healthier."

Even if your city or state is in a safer position it’s so important to always remember to wash your hands and keep physically distant where you can.
