The Pizza Wars Rage On: Domino’s Is Giving Away 20,000 Free Pizzas This Month

Where were you when the pizza nations declared war?
Domino’s has doubled down on last month’s campaign to give away 10,001 pizzas in one day, offering 20,000 pizzas over four weeks.
Those proud purveyors of ‘za made the announcement as a response to the backlash to their previous giveaway, which resulted in their competition platform collapsing due to overwhelming traffic.
Domino’s initially posted a thank you/apology note to Facebook, but have since decided to just give away twice as many pizzas as before. Apology accepted.
The promo started yesterday, with 5,000 free pizzas given away in just eight minutes. Every day over the next four weeks, their FB fans will get a chance to collect their freebies. But stay vigilant: Only 15,000 free pizzas remain.
If you’re wondering how this all began (*sits back in rocking chair, sips cool glass of homemade iced tea*), we must go all the way back to August 4.
See, it was initially revealed that Domino’s was planning on removing Margherita pizzas from their menu. Pizza Hut, sensing an opportunity and taking it like the final coveted slice at a pizza party, offered to give away 10,000 free Margheritas, just to stick it to their crusty rivals.
Domino’s then clapped back with a deliciously petty 10,001 pizza giveaway.
And now here we are. Isn’t history fascinating?
