The Internet Is Shook by Woody Harrelson in the “Venom 2” Trailer

It’s the eyes for me.

The new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage dropped overnight and yes it looks freakin’ awesome, but the insanity of Woody Harrelson’s character has sent the internet into a mini meltdown.

First things first, let’s talk Tom Hardy. Reprising his role as Eddie Brock, the trailer kicks off showing the funny dynamic of how his life now works living with the alien Venom inside of him.

And ngl it looks pretty fun with Venom going full Jamie Oliver at the start of the trailer, singing along to the radio and messily cooking a hearty breakfast.

The fun tone is quickly dropped though when we get our first look at Woody Harrrelson’s villain, the deranged serial killer Cletus Kasady, rotting away in prison waiting for the lethal injection.

Now for those who aren’t familiar with the story of Cletus Kasady from the Marvel comic series, he becomes the host of a murderous alien symbiote known as Carnage.

A winning combo; murder alien + serial killer.

If you remember, at the end of the first Venom film, journalist Brock was invited to interview Kasady and it looks like we’re finally going to see that encounter on screen with a crazy looking Kasady behind bars telling Brock, “It’s been a long time. Missed you. So much.”

Ugh, the shivers it will send down your spine. Honestly, it’s Harrelson like you’ve never seen him before. The hair, the voice, those eyes.

Don’t just take our word for it though ‘cos the internet is shook by his performance in the trailer too.

By the way, for those of you hoping that there might be a crossover or an appearance from Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the film, don't get your hopes up: director Andy Serkis (Gollum from The Lord of the Rings) made a point of quashing the rumours in an interview with IGN.

"Obviously, there are links between Venom and Spider-Man in the Marvel Universe and the Spider-Man story, but in this, you know we're treating this very much as it's his own world," the director said.

"There are nods and little moments that just like this newspaper Daily Bugle, of course."

Oh, and don’t think we’ve forgotten the original hairstyle they chose for Harrelson in the first film. We’re stoked they decided to drop the curls for the sequel ‘cos that hair is a big yikes.

Directed by Andy Serkis, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is due to land in Australia on 16 September and stars Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams and Stephen Graham.
