The Internet Is Going Wild For David Harbour In the New “Black Widow” Trailer

Some people are even hoping for a "Stranger Things" crossover.

The trailer for the highly-anticipated Black Widow dropped overnight, and fans of Scarlett Johansson's badass super-spy character couldn't be more pumped.

The movie, which is due to arrive in Australian cinemas in April 2020, focuses on a point in the life of Natasha Romanoff, the Russian spy-turned-Avenger. Johansson has been careful not to label it as an origin story.

We've been waiting a hell of a long time for this, and the teaser certainly did not disappoint. Although, considering it's over two minutes long, it's more of an actual trailer.

Whatever you want to call it, here it is for you to enjoy.

Despite rumours that Black Widow was going to be prequel, it turns out the film is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

While plot details have been kept under wraps, we know that Natasha's goal is to make up for her past wrongdoings. From watching the trailer, it's safe to assume that she'll be on some kind of personal journey.

Additionally, the trailer also introduces a bunch of new characters, including Florence Pugh (Midsommar) as Yelena Belova, another Black Widow. Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) also joins the cast as Melina. Not a whole lot is known about her character, but in the comics she was another spy called Iron Maiden, who despised Natasha. Although, Weisz has said that Melina is another Black Widow. It's all very juicy.

On the other hand, the character from the trailer that everyone is talking about is the Red Guardian, portrayed by lovable Stranger Things dad David Harbour.

In the comics, the Red Guardian, also known as Alexei Shostakov, was chosen to become the Russian equivalent of Captain America. He was also married to Natasha for a period of time.

It doesn't seem like he shares the same romantic connection with Johansson's character in the trailer, but either way, everyone is just ecstatic to see him in that powerful red suit.

In fact, some people are even hoping for a Stranger Things crossover, considering there are theories going around that Hopper ended up in Russia at the end of Season 3. Could Hopper somehow become the Red Guardian?

It would be pretty cool, but it's safe to say it will never ever happen.

Black Widow lands in Australian cinemas on 30 April 2020.
