The "GLOW" Cast Wants a Follow-Up Movie, So We Must Make It Happen

Earlier this month, Netflix made the ruthless decision to cancel two widely loved shows: Teenage Bounty Hunters and GLOW.

The latter is an Emmy-nominated comedy that centres around a troupe of female wrestlers, and it was renewed for a fourth and final season last year.

However, according to Deadline, Netflix reversed their fourth-season renewal of GLOW due to the effects COVID-19 had on production. At the time, they'd already finished filming one episode.

Netflix said in a statement to Deadline that shooting an ensemble show that was "so physically intimate" would be too challenging under social distancing measures.

Viewers were rightfully outraged by the announcement.

"Hey @netflix you've cancelled GLOW. Are you crazy?!! It's brilliant and female led. Get your act together and bring it back," one Twitter user wrote.

Over the weekend, the GLOW cast reunited for the first time since the cancellation, as part of the #GoodToVote voter registration campaign.

Stars Alison Brie, Marc Maron, Betty Gilpin and the rest of the gang came together for a Q&A about their time on the show (just to make us cry even more).

Although, it wasn't all incredibly heartbreaking. The cast also talked about the possibility of filming a follow-up movie to wrap up the series.

"I think there's a petition out there and it would be a very exciting thing that Netflix could do it if they wanted to do it. I think it would probably solve the problem," Maron said.

The cast then encouraged fans to join the #SaveGLOW petition, or post letters to Netflix to encourage the streaming service to approve a wrap-up movie.

At the moment, a fan-made petition has gained over 6,592 signatures, but that's simply not good enough.

Of course, desperate times call for desperate measures. Now, we must join the petition, tweet #SaveGLOW for the remainder of the day, month or however long it takes to get this follow-up film made, and start drafting letters to Netflix.
