The First Look At “Clifford the Big Red Dog” Is Here and Idk What to Think

I’m not sure whether to laugh or be scared.

As of recent, film creators have a big thing for remaking animated movies and TV shows into live action versions, or the closest thing to it (The Lion King was a stretch).

It can be really hard making CGI animals and creatures look realistic, but what’s even harder is not making them look low-key terrifying.

On Wednesday, Paramount Pictures released their first look clip of the new film Clifford The Big Red Dog, a childhood classic that I’m sure we all remember.

If you don’t remember, here is what the good boy looked like as an animated pooch.

The problem? Clifford is making fans feel kind of nervous, to say the least.

First of all, that dog is clearly a puppy and he’s already huge, so how much bigger is he supposed to get?

Secondly, it kind of looks like he has been spray-painted red. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it looks like someone has dyed the poor thing, which is kind of hilarious.

Fans were real quick to notice that Clifford looked a bit odd and fled to Twitter (as usual) to spread the memes.

This isn’t exactly a first for filmmakers of ‘live action’ movies. I’m sure we all remember the uproar about Sonic The Hedgehog.

Paramount’s official synopsis of the movie, for anyone wondering, reads, "When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment."

"While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple."

There hasn’t been any response from Paramount about the reaction to Clifford but maybe fans will win again like they did with Sonic.

The film is due for release in November 2021, so they have a little bit of time to, uh, make Clifford look less terrifying.
