"The Bachelorette" Is Having Its Own #OscarsSoWhite Moment

The Bachelorette's mood for this season is 50 shades of beige.
The men on selection for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette have been revealed but people noticed they seemed to have a lot in common.
Despite having 18 men chosen to be suitors for the unannounced bachelorette, the hoi polloi noted that the diversity was seriously lacking.
Real talk though: the 2016 census showed nearly 40% of Aussies are non-Anglo nowadays.

Shit like this repeatedly happens on Australian TV here because producers actively go out of their way to look for whites-only casts.
Embarrassing at best, racist at worst.
qwhite the group you got there. https://t.co/dj1UgFWpnN

nice try but delete this and try again with just the tiniest bit of diversity

It's hardly the first time The Bachelorette or its sibling, The Bachelor, have been embroiled in this sort of criticism.
Last year, The Bachelor was criticised for featuring a predominantly white cast, and years before that, The Bachelorette again raised eyebrows.
In fact, diverse casts for The Bachelor/ette are often the exception rather than the rule, but if they keep receiving heavy backlash for each selection, surely something will give.
