Data-geddon II: Telstra’s Latest Outage Strikes Pre-Paid Phones

Did your phone service cut out this morning?

Telstra faced another major outage today, with some pre-paid customers unable to make phone calls or access the Internet, News Corp reports.

Some users' accounts even incorrectly showed that they were out of credit.

According to Telstra’s Twitter account, data and voice services have been restored, though credit recharging services remain down.

It’s the second time in two months that the telco has gone down, with one poor Telstra employee accidentally switching off more than 16 million services in February.

Telstra made up for the outage by offering free data to users for 24 hours; savvy users took advantage to the tune of 1841 terabytes of data. It marked Telstra’s biggest ever download day.

It's unknown if Telstra will make the same gesture to pre-paid users this time around.
