Teen Was Rejected From a Job With a Laughing Emoji One Minute After Leaving Interview

Megan Dixon has hit out at a restaurant chain for supposedly mocking her with a laughing emoji after rejecting her from a job.

The 18-year-old teen had applied for a part-time waitress job at Miller and Carter, a steakhouse in the U.K. Moments after leaving the interview she opened her phone to find a message saying, “It’s a no”.

When she asked why she didn’t land the job, Megan was sent another message poking fun at her for using the word “like” during the interview. The text also described her as “basic”.

Megan tweeted a screenshot of herself getting roasted by the branch’s assistant manager, Shantel Wesson.

“I was shocked,” said Megan. “The least she should have given me was some proper feedback,” adding, “the laughing face emoji was so unprofessional.”

Shantel didn’t shake her hand, or even have her CV out during the interview, Megan told the Sun. Apparently she just sat there drinking a coffee.

A spokesperson from the branch said, “The texts were sent in error and were intended for our manager.”
