A Sydney Student Tried to Sell Their School Off as a Nightclub or Prison for Muck-Up Day

And then the police got involved.

Muck-up day is a proud tradition in Australia, during which outgoing Year 12s—no longer facing the wrath of their teachers—attempt to pull off a chaotic prank (or a bunch of little ones) for their big goodbye.

The goal? Legendary status that echoes throughout the generations.

Sometimes, umm, the students go a little too far. Other times, they opt for something positively heart-warming.

But one student in NSW went all out for their muck-up move, putting up a very convincing but ultimately fake 'For Sale' sign outside their private girls' school, Queenwood, in Mosman.

According to the extremely professional-looking real estate sign student Sophie Nell mocked-up, the campus (ahem, sorry "post-modern industrial complex") had been rezoned for a 24/7 nightclub, a brewery, a minimum security prison, or "just a humble Mosman" home, with 53 beds and 47 bathrooms.

Adding to the realism: Nell had the sign designed by family friend Megan Thomas at actual Mosman real estate firm O’Gorman & Partners. (Both were listed on the sign.)

"This is a brilliant opportunity to maximise views, location & only moments to Country Road," they concluded. Ladies, when you’ve made the sale, stop selling.

This is funny stuff! So funny the, um, police decided to have some fun with it too.

In a post to Facebook, the North Shore Police Area Command said they had commenced an investigation due to a sign "advertising the fraudulent sale of an educational facility", and that they intended to "speak with a number of young females". The post ended with just a classic jk from the coppers: "Nah only kidding, good get girls!"

Police conducting positive, good-humoured community engagement: that’s nice! Police inserting themselves into pranks to make teenagers briefly think they’re under arrest: that’s less nice. Maybe leave the comedy to the experts.
