Surprise! Apple’s Dropping a New iPhone This Weekend

It’s red.

Rumours continue to swirl regarding Apple’s next generation of iPhone. Will it have wireless charging? Will it have a “wraparound” display? Will it fill the empty void that sits within us all, craving increasingly advanced technology?

We can’t answer any of those questions. What we can tell you, however, is that Apple is surprise-dropping (Beyoncé style) a brand new phone from the current gen this weekend.

From March 25, punters will be able to purchase a striking, red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, in honour of the PRODUCT(RED) initiative to raise awareness and donate funds to Africa’s battle with HIV and AIDS, Mashable reports.

Apple first began releasing Special Edition (RED) devices in 2006, with the iPod Nano. However, this is the first time the company has released a phone in this colourful finish.

Australians will be able to grab the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Special Edition (RED) with 128GB or 256GB capabilities from March 25, online and in-store. Apple insists there are no other differences between this model and the previous seventh generation release. Part proceeds will go directly to The Global Fund (which sounds like George Costanza's "Human Fund", but is actually real).

Grab one and you’ll get to look like Iron Man while also helping a good cause.
