The Internet Can’t Stop Talking About “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season Three

The summer Belly dumped both Fisher boys and went to Paris ✌️

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for “The Summer I Turned Pretty” TV show and book trilogy.

You’d have to be living under a rock the size of Mars if you have not heard the buzz around the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Adapted from the book series by Jenny Han, the show has run for three seasons on Prime Video.

Now it all comes down to season three and the age-old question: which Fisher brother will Belly end up with?

What is the Summer I Turned Pretty plot about?

Like every good teen adult love story, The Summer I Turned Pretty is about Isabel, or Belly, Conklin (Lola Tung) who spends every summer visiting Cousins Beach with her family and the Fishers.

Belly, her brother Stephen (Sean Kaufman) and the two Fisher boys Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) have all grown up together. And since she was 10, she’s had a massive crush on Conrad.

The series starts with Belly as a 16-year-old and throughout the show we see her navigate falling in love and coming of age.

Which brings us all the way to season three, where we’re four years into the future and Belly has previously dated Conrad but is now in a relationship with Jeremiah.

And now they are supposedly getting married…after he cheated on her…and proposed to her with a $300 ring.

No judgement from us, but maybe rethink that decision Belly.

What happens in the book ending?

Stop reading if you don’t want any book spoilers but the way Season Three is going so far is pretty similar to the final book in the series We’ll Always Have Summer.

In the book it’s clear despite the fact that Belly and Jeremiah are getting married, Conrad is still in love with Belly. And even though he confesses this to her, and she still feels the same way, she rejects him because she’s with Jeremiah.

On Belly and Jeremiah’s wedding day however Jeremiah reads a letter written by his late mother Susannah. The letter isn’t meant for him it’s mean for Conrad on his wedding day and his mother writes that she’s only ever seen Conrad happy once – with Belly. After reading this, it’s Jeremiah who realises that things aren’t right and calls off the wedding.

And honestly thank goodness because after all that, Belly finally spends some time single, travelling and living her own life.

Eventually she does end up with Conrad, they get married and even Jeremiah has a new love interest of his own.

Will the TV show follow the book ending?

We’d like to think the series will follow the books to an extent, but we don’t want to set ourselves up for disappointment.

Jenny, who is a co-showrunner and executive producer on the show, has admitted the series is “a totally different beast” from the books and that “things might not always happen the way people are expecting”.

So prepare your hearts for possible heartbreak.

Queue the internet reactions.

They’re unhinged of course.

@takeitfromherepod I just know Adam Fisher was wondering where he got the funds to pay for that engagement ring. Follow for more the summer I turned pretty coverage and memes.
