Stay Calm: The Entire Fortnite Map Has Vanished

Players have been left staring into a black hole.

Fortnite fans have been prepared for Season 10 of the popular game to end for a while. In fact, developer Epic Games had been teasing "The End" event for the past few weeks. However, it turned out to be far more literal than players initially anticipated.

Over the weekend, the season-ending event saw the actual destruction of the game’s map. According to Gamespot, once the countdown clocks struck zero, a new rocket built in Dusty Depot launched, creating a new rift in the sky. This set off a chain reaction, which ultimately blew up the entire island, leaving nothing but a black hole.

It seems likely that the blackout has something to do with creating a new map for Season 11. But for the past nine hours or so, all players have been able to do is stare into the dark abyss, waiting for the game’s return.

At the moment, no one is able to start a new game. Plus, all tweets have been deleted from the official Fortnite twitter, besides a livestream of the black hole, which is also being streamed on Twitch.

But Fortnite fans are skilled, and they’ve been keeping their eyes peeled for any hidden messages in the livestream. Some players have spotted numbers appearing across the screen, and they’ve come up with some pretty extravagant theories.

This is my theory, anyone wanna debunk it? #TheEnd, #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/RvrxiMNmOA

Although, it’s entirely possible that Fortnite is just trolling us. One user entered the numbers into google maps, and a crab rave appeared.

Players can rest assured that the game has not ended for good, considering Epic Games has already released updates about the upcoming season, including the fact that bots will be involved.

Until we know more, try to do something other than stare into that black hole today.
