Someone Literally Took A Sledgehammer To Trump's Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star

What better way to enjoy a night off than to smash Donald Trump's "Walk of Fame" star into smithereens?
A random guy in America had that exact thought. (He acted on it too.)
Police in Los Angeles have made a statement overnight because some brave individual took a sledgehammer to the famed star which bears the name of US Republican Candidate, Donald Trump.
According to the New York Times the fella in question was decked out in a construction worker outfit. After valiantly smashing the Trump's star with a sledgehammer, he then attempted to remove it from the sidewalk with a pick axe.
Only in America, am I right?

A guy by the name of Jamie Otis has come forward to Deadline, claiming that he's the person responsible for the "smash and run".
Allegedly, he had intended to remove Trump's star in order to auction it off next month in New York, He said his intention was to raise funds for the numerous women who have recently come forward accusing Trump of sexual assault.

Unfortunately for Otis, his attempt was rather unsuccessful.
The star remains firmly planted in the sidewalk, albeit, looking a bit dishevelled and cracked. (A beautiful symbol of American politics right now, oh the poetic irony.)
USA Today has reported that the star will be immediately replaced; There's a chance that, if proven guilty, Otis would be subject to the "full extent of the law" for his alleged vandalism.
However, all across the country (and world) the mysterious guy has been heralded an unsung hero.
