Trump Says He'll Deport Three Million Criminals And Get Started On His Wall (Which Will, Apparently, Be More Like A Fence)

President-elect Donald Trump has voiced plans to deport upwards of three million people from the country, once he is in office.

Appearing on CBS's 60 Minutes program, Mr Trump discussed how he intends to deport, or incarcerate, undocumented immigrants with criminal records.

The first people in his line of fire: gang members and drug dealers.

"We're getting them out of our country, they're here illegally," he said.

It's the first time Mr Trump has publicly outlined presidential plans, post campaign trail.

Previously, he said he would deport all undocumented migrants living in the United States, estimated to be around 11 million people.

He stresses a need to send "criminal aliens" out of the country, and said that family deportations would be done "in a very humane way". (Heaps reassuring?)

It's not confirmed how Mr Trump plans on carrying out his deportation proposal. Also, commentators have noted that his policy is actually no different from the current laws in place under the Obama administration, which prioritises the removal of immigrants convicted of criminal offences.

He has also offered some very brief (and mildly confusing) details about the Mexico border wall he plans to build.

"There could be some fencing," he said. "For certain areas I would [accept a fence], but certain areas, a wall is more appropriate," he explained.

"I'm very good at this, it's called construction."
