The Global University Rankings Are Out And Six Aussie Unis Have Cracked The Top 100

Australian universities are just killing it today.

As students celebrate the Government’s pledge to shelve any uni reforms until 2017, another bit of good news has arrived.

Turns out six local universities have cracked the Times Higher Education ranking of the 100 best unis on the globe. We. Are. Nailing it.

Back in April, THE even said Australia was the best in the world for “young universities”, so…

Slam Dunk

Eight-hundred institutions were measured in THE's biggest evaluation to date.

While the California Institute of Technology – aka, Caltech – maintained its position at the top for the fifth consecutive year, the University of Melbourne remains Australia’s highest charter, holding onto its spot at 33 for a second year.

The Australian National University in Canberra, the University of Sydney, the University of Queensland, Monash University and the University of New South Wales all garnered a space in the Top 100.

Australia was the seventh most represented nation for the 2015-16 period. In your face, Austria! (They only managed seven placements.)

  • University of Queensland (60)
  • Monash University (73)
  • University of New South Wales (82)
  • University of Western Australia (109)
