Beef (Or Should That Be “Beouf”?) Alert: Shia LaBeouf Goes In On Steven Spielberg

Shia LaBeouf is putting the ‘tea’ in Transformers by taking on legendary director/producer Steven Spielberg.
In a new profile for Variety (spruiking his acclaimed turn in Oscar contender American Honey), the Beef himself talked about his difficulty working alongside Spielberg.
Spielberg directed Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull while also producing Shia’s three Transformers movies, in addition to Disturbia and Eagle Eye.
“I grew up with this idea, if you got to Spielberg, that’s where it is,” he said.
“You get there, and you realise you’re not meeting the Spielberg you dream of. You’re meeting a different Spielberg, who is in a different stage in his career. He’s less a director than he is a f***ing company.”
Spielberg declined to offer Variety a comment in response.
“I don’t like the movies that I made with Spielberg,” LaBeouf added. “The only movie that I liked that we made together was Transformers one.”
In LaBeouf’s defence, the first Transformers really is the only acceptable flick of that lot (though we might give a ‘guilty pleasure’ pass to Disturbia).
Some observes may think taking pot-shots at a legend like Spielberg would be bad for LaBeouf’s career, but when you consider what he’s already survived (the plagiarism scandal, the “I Am Not Famous Anymore” head-bag, and, most stressfully, the #AllMyMovies art exhibit, in which he forced himself to watch all his films – yes, even Eagle Eye), it’s reasonable to assume this guy might actually be invincible.
