Sellers Start Bids At $100k For Woolworths Lion King Ooshies on eBay

The hunt for the rare collectables has spiralled into utter madness.
Perhaps the lyric "Tell me why I need another Ooshie" should be added to Weird Al Yankovic’s "eBay Parody Song", because it appears to be the latest craze hitting the online auction site. This time, it is the Woolworths Lion King Ooshies that everyone is after, with starting bids at $100k.
Gold Simba is yet to receive any bids, but how did we reach this level of absurdity?
Well, it began with Woolworths teaming up with Disney to give people the chance to collect all 24 of The Lion King themed Ooshies. Every time a shopper spends $30, they receive one of the characters. There are only 100 furry Simba Ooshies in circulation, making the Ooshie-obsessed among us scramble to collect them.
Somehow, that has spiralled into complete eBay madness. Forget the chance to win a holiday for four to Disney World in Orlando; these squashy little guys are where the fun is really at.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a limited-edition furry Simba found in Plympton Park, Adelaide was sold on eBay for a mind-boggling $99,900.00. The seller had described the Ooshie as "ULTRA ULTRA SUPER SUPER RARE!" However, the bidder cancelled the order and the seller ended the listing.
It’s probably for the best.
However, that has not stopped people from rushing to eBay to list their Ooshies for literal thousands.
Thankfully, none of these items have received any bids, so we can rest assured that people haven’t completely lost their marbles.

Why are people so crazy about collectables? All they do is take up space. What is the purpose of them? Are TVs hypnotising people to get stuff they don't actually need?
