Good News, Buttheads! The Self-Tying Nikes From "Back To The Future" Are Real!

Back to the Future Day is the gift that keeps on giving.
Though we were happy to show off our mad hoverboarding skills yesterday, we did so with a slight tinge of melancholy, as we couldn’t help but remember that some of the 2015 advancements promised by Back to the Future II still eluded us. Specifically, self-tying shoelaces.
If only we had waited one more day.
As October 21 wrapped up in Australia and we retired to bed, dreaming of our local Back to the Future Day celebrations, even bigger BTTF events were only just kicking off in America.
The most impressive, however, was taking place at Michael J. Fox’s house.
Marty McFly himself was visited by representatives from Nike who gifted him with a pair of self-tying Nike Mags. Yes, as seen in the movies!
The limited edition sneakers will go on sale in 2016, though you’ll need to start squirreling away pocket money right now if you hope to grab a pair of your own. They’ll be sold exclusively via auction, so you can expect the price to be “heavy.” However, all proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. If that’s not a worthwhile reason to spend all your money on self-tying shoes, I don’t know what is.
If only Back to the Future Day was all year long!
