Sacked Grill'd Employee Kahlani Pyrah To Be Reinstated Following Court Ruling

Kahlani Pyrah, the sacked Grill’d employee who took her fight for fair pay public, has been reinstated thanks to a ruling by the Federal Circuit Court.

According to ABC News, there remains one further obstacle before Kahlani can officially return to her Camberwell branch; a further bullying claim must first be heard in late August.

The 20-year-old Melbourne student initially launched legal action against Grill'd after she was allegedly fired for questioning her $17.52 an hour pay rate. (That figure is approximately one dollar below the national award.)

Within days, Grill’d founder Simon Crowe was forced to respond to a deluge of criticism by pledging to review the company's pay agreements.

"I suspect there will be increases in pay... I don't think that's something to be hidden or shied away from,” he told 3AW.

A petition to have Kahlani reinstated has reached 23,438 signatures as of the time of publication.
