Melbourne's Ronny Chieng Joins The New-Look "Daily Show"

Ronny Chieng is no longer merely one of our best-kept secrets.
The Melbourne-based comic has just scored a pretty sweet gig: as one of the correspondents on the new-look Daily Show.
Chieng, who is Malaysian born but of Chinese heritage, won Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2012 and more recently supported Dave Chappelle on his Australian tour.
I saw him in action and he dominated, despite squaring off against a crowd waiting fairly impatiently for the long-absent comedy legend. In fact, he killed with this exact bit about the lyrics to Kanye’s “Bound 2”. Some mild coarse language ahead:
Chieng is one of three new correspondents joining the current lineup, alongside newbies Desi Lydic and Roy Wood Jr. They now belong to a lineage that includes Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee, Ed Helms, John Oliver, Kristen Schaal and pretty much every other funny person you’ve ever loved.
According to Deadline, the trio will join the program upon its return on September 28th, with new host Trevor Noah sitting in the chair once occupied by Jon Stewart.
