Ronda Rousey Had To Go All The Way To Melbourne To Be KO'd By Holly Holm

The seemingly indomitable Ronda Rousey was demolished in her hotly-anticipated UFC title match against Holly Holm on Sunday.

The American bantamweight mixed martial arts champ had to fly to Melbourne for the indignity, too.

It took only six minutes for underdog Holm – who, like Rousey, went into the contest unbeaten – to knock out her opponent. The KO, delivered by a devastating kick to the jaw, occurred in the second round.

With her first loss, Rousey’s tally moves to 12-1. Holm’s record sits at 10-0. Rousey had held the bantamweight title since December 6, 2012.

More than 56,000 fans went to the Dockland Stadium to witness the match-up, in which Rousey was the overwhelming favourite. (According to some betting websites, you would only win $5 if you placed $100 on her victory.)

Already, conversation has turned to a rematch. We suspect the odds will be significantly different next time around.
