We Can’t Stop Playing the Roblox Game That Took Over the Internet

We’ve all been there – scrolling through Instagram or TikTok and you keep seeing the same thing pop up on your feed. It looks pretty interesting, but you don’t really think much of it. Till it keeps coming up again and again…and again.

So, you check it out. And suddenly you’re hooked, obsessed with this thing for weeks and constantly on it. You’re waiting for new updates, looking up info online about it and you can’t stop talking about it with your friends.

For me this was Dress to Impress on Roblox. While some might think Roblox is just for kids, that’s where you’re wrong.

Just wait until you play Dress to Impress and get sucked into the vortex that is styling a character, making sure every meticulous detail is on theme down to the accessories and somehow coming in second last (IYKYK).

What is Dress to Impress?

In case you’re unfamiliar, Dress to Impress (or DTI) is a game, developed by teenaged Roblox users with a simple concept: get a theme, dress to the theme and vote for the best dressed character.

You have five minutes to rush around a room and select your hair, shoes, make up, accessories, and clothes before hitting the runway.

The themes range from goth to dystopia to 1920s. There are no limits to outfit creativity with the massive range of themes.

After discovering this game and playing it a few times, I was quickly hooked. And it’s no wonder other people are saying the same thing.

Why is it so popular?

Let’s be real – when has dressing up ever not been fun? Regardless of your age or gender, everyone loves having a bit of fun and exploring their creativity through art and fashion. Despite the bright graphics and bubbly background music, this game doesn’t feel like it’s made for children.

Adults have gone all-out with their styling ability in game and popular streamers like Kai Cenat and Madison Beer have even tried their hand with their fashion ability online. It’s also made the rounds on YouTube with online creator CaseOh rising to fame with his videos on DTI.

For me, it’s a swirling mix of nostalgia for dress-up games, exploring my creativity and showing off my fashion skills. And bragging rights when you hit that first-place podium at the end.

You’re saying who did a collab with DTI?

If that doesn’t convince you to check it out – did you know that Charli XCX did a collab with DTI and released a bunch of Brat-inspired clothing items?

The collab launched back in August and seriously solidified the cultural impact this addicting dress-up game. It saw a drop that included a brat shirt, a motorcycle jacket, Charli’s iconic belt jacket from her 365 music video as the skirt she wears in the Guess music video, knee-high boots and an iconic fur coat. Plus, Charli’s iconic long wavy black hair.

While the hype for DTI has died down a little bit since earlier in the year, it’s no doubt this game will continue to be on everyone’s favourites in Roblox. And if you haven’t checked it out yet, do yourself a favour and play a few rounds. Plus, there’s a Winter Christmas update coming out soon 👀
